AN ILLUSION OF WINTER

Thailand has no winter. So I make my own. Hiding in airconditioned shopping malls, wrapping myself in a hand-knitted wool pullover. Pretending. It’s silly — but it gives me a moment of cold, a little illusion of seasons. What I miss most about Hong Kong is the rhythm of four seasons — especially winter. Even though it’s shorter and shorter now, that chill in the air, the layers, the quiet streets at night…
